Slightly ambitious.

After dad returned from Switzerland last night, he declared that he was going to cook breakfast on our new electric grill collecting dust on the terrace. We had some packages of ham from Spain that has been taking up room in the refrigerator, so it was time. The only problem is, the sun is not always indicative of warmth (which mom is still not aware of).
I took this picture from IN the apartment where it was warm.
I can smell bacon!!!
I can't wait until we have friends over and BBQ some wings and burgers! It's like we're in the US, minus the beach.

Score!!

These are pictures of dad flying around the Swiss mountains in a hat that he stole from mom. Caught red handed. Thank you, Akos (dad's co-pilot) for catching this theif! And for taking really cool pictures of dad.
Watch out for those mountains, dad!
Someone STILL thinks he's American.

Sunshine for the soul.

Mom and I were chatting today on our morning walk and she commented that she had no idea this many people lived in our neighborhood! Turns out, we were the ONLY people who ventured out during the winter!! Seriously, maybe there were a handful of others, but it was clear they were on a mission, i.e. food and water.

This week has shown some promise. There's only been one day of rain, and the rest of the week has been pretty sunny. Mom even plans to put some planters on the balcony. Oh, the life of a desperate housewife. Domestic life has beat mom up pretty good, but it's growing on her a bit too.
Those are GREEN leaves that were NOT planted by city workers!
Life is so hard, I get pushed around all morning and sleep in the sun. Dad is pretty jealous. I'd push him, but he weighs too much.
Mom sat on this bench and read a book for an hour. She seemed pretty happy about it until dad called and woke me up!!!

I heart dancing.

From the time I could stand, I can always remember loving to get down! I'm a fan of the Blues, given my upbringing. I also have been known to dance to Country, Rap, R&B, along with some 80's music (but don't tell anyone). So far, I think my favorite song is "All Along the Watchtower," a Jimmy Hendrix classic! This morning I have danced at least an hour straight with dad. Life is pretty fun with a good beat and someone to dance with!

Let loose people! It's good for your health!! Happy booty shaking to all my friends!

Family day at the military hospital.

Great-grandma on grandpa's side of the family broke her hip a few weeks back and is now in a state military hospital. We went to go visit her today since she got super pissed at dad for not bringing me around. I think she said he was satan or something. Anywho, we went to visit her, and Aunt Kate (grandpa's sister) showed up about a half hour after we got there. We had a lot of fun, and I showed everyone how I can spit on demand!
It looks like a hotel! Not quite like Balboa Naval Hospital in SD!
I loved the yellow bag on ggma's walker! I poked it for like 10 minutes!
I was trying to use the walker but I didn't like it because it had these things that make it go slow. Booooring!
Playing thumb war with ggma.
This is officially my favorite pastime! Dad just needs to remember to duck when traveling under doors!

I'm sick and tired...

...of mom picking out my clothes!
Also, they finished planting the flowers! It's so pretty!!!!
I was ready to fall asleep in this picture, so please ignore my non-smile.
We had to go buy a new car seat today since I'm officially growing out of my infant car seat. Dad put me in the cart, like a big girl, and I had a blast chatting with all the other babies and adults.
And this was definitely the highlight of the trip! Cruising around in style on a lime green safari bike. A video will be posted tomorrow! Check back!

Flower Power

Flowers do really lift my mood, and more importantly, mom's mood. The parents took me out super early this morning because they were trying to coax me to sleep in my warm sleeping bag, but more because they wanted to eat breakfast in the sun. We went into Szent Istvan Park to find people planting new flowers!! It's going to look so pretty when it's done!
Then we went to the baby store and mom spent more money on endless baby supplies. But...I now know my REAL name!
Mom said it was time I start knowing my name isn't Popcorn Grouch-Potato. I don't want people at school to make fun of me.
I've decided that riding sideways in my cart is MUCH more fun/dangerous. My parents let me because, quite frankly, they are scared to death of me. I will scream anytime, anywhere, and prefer if I have a large audience (namely those dining at fancy restaurants).
This is dad showing me how to order mom Indian food on the iPad. Little do they know I'll be ordering other things!! (Read: bacon bits, chocolate covered bacon, bacon sunglasses, and for good measure, bacon band aids.)

Bacon really does make everything better.

While waiting for dad to return from his second holiday in Madrid, mom decided to cook up my favorite treat (read: mom ran out of food and didn't want to haul me down the street to the grocery store). So, she fried up some bacon to go with grandma's vegetable soup. Let's be honest, one was far better than the other. I'll leave the carrot eating to the bunnies.
This was by far the best lunch I have ever had. Ever!
I actually snarled at mom when she tried to take it away, and then for good measure I bit her.
Mwahahahaha!

Spring!!?

So for the last few days it's been really warm! Mom told me not to get my hopes up, but it's so hard not to! San Diego grandma sent some really great summer clothes over, so I had to try them on immediately!
I got hot pink and yellow shorts, which is the only way to stay fashion forward here in the east. Seriously, everyone wears neon shoes/pants/shorts. Mom even bought a pair of peach pants, although the likelihood of her actually wearing anything other than black, tan or blue is slim to none.
I eventually put on some pants because despite the sun shinning, it's still really cold sometimes! And don't get me started on the wind! Mom's hair looks like a tumble weed.
That's the under part of my changing table. After crawling inside to retrieve my ABC farm house, I realized my big butt couldn't shimmy back out (I take after my dad in more ways than one). I screamed until mom came in. It took her about two minutes to figure out how I wedged myself in there and subsequently took five minutes to figure out how pull me out.

Dad is back in Madrid again!! I was so mad that I mom and I put a diaper in his suitcase! We rule!

See ya, chemicals!

So mom has decided to go "au natural," and ditch most commercially sold beauty products. At first I was super embarrassed, but then I realized she was on the right track. I'll turn it over to mom to explain...

For some reason, I've always founds soaps, deodorants, shampoos and tooth pastes to be super chemical rich. Something felt off about using products on my skin that ended in -oxide, -bate, -acid, let alone putting it in MY MOUTH! So, after doing some pretty lengthy research on the internet, I've decided to ditch chemicals all together.  After going toxin-free for about a month, I've noticed a HUGE difference. I used baking soda like it's going out of style, teas, vinegar, lemon, essential oils, cornstarch, coconut oil, argon oil, plant aloe...that's it. Literally. AND I don't stink. Peter wouldn't know anyway since he can't smell. I suppose it's a win-win if I'm totally deluding myself.

Those chemicals freaked me out even more when I was faced with introducing them to my child.  In her 10 months of life, we have used nothing but water, and a very mild hydrating cream for baths (maybe once a week). No diaper cream. No baby oils. No lotions that claim to make her sleep better. NOTHING. And guess what, her skin is fantastic! No dryness, and no diaper rash...not once. And she still smells like a cute little baby.

My hair and skin have always caused me a good bit of trouble in my life, and after stopping all of these products, my skin has cleared up significantly, and my hair is a lot less dry and frizzy.

"But some wonder if we were sold a bill of goods. That trend toward everyday cleansing might have triggered a vicious cycle, some experts say — shampoo cleanses by stripping the hair of its natural, necessary oils, causing the scalp to produce more oil in response, making it impossible for some to skip shampoo for even one day without sprouting a gigantic greaseball."

I used to wash everyday and straighten my hair with a straightening iron. I can't believe I subjected my hair to that, or that I even cared that much! Such a waste of time! Now it's wavy and healthy, and it takes me like five minutes to get ready. Having a baby helped!

I'm not writing this to sell you on anything, I just want more people to know that natural doesn't mean stinky, and it doesn't mean that you never take showers or immediately sprout dreadlocks. It's a hell of a lot cheaper (I can safely estimate I was spending hundreds on products yearly), your bathroom stays much more organized, and you avoid chemicals that may or may not cause cancer. I'll take my chances and use more natural resources verses what a pharmaceutical company or major corporation tells me I should use. Anyway, I LOVE my new routine, and I definitely won't be going back to commercial products. EVER. Plus, now I can save up more money to buy more important things, like plane tickets to SD.

Baby Giggles!

This has zero relation to the video posted below, but mom was teaching me how to surf today. She said something about avoiding stingrays, but dad said to ignore her because battle wounds are cool. I even have my beach themed onsie on! Go me!

Let's just say that riding on grandma's shoulders is a BLAST! I love being up high!!

Big adventure on public transportation!

We left early in the morning because dad needed to pick up his Navy Seal watch. After a stop to fuel up on coffee at the local café, we ventured to the major post office in Budapest. After searching the post office high and low, the lady found the elusive watch, and dad's mood significantly improved.

Mom then suggested making a day of the sun by eating imposter Mexican food at Iguanas. I dined on guacamole, crappy quesadillas and virgin piña coladas. We took the new and improved tram, so I finally got to see Parliament.
Pretty neat looking place, full of over-paid, corrupt politicians. Love my Hungairan peeps!
Yay guacamole! My spotless grey coat is now alien green.
Also, I now stand by myself!

All in all, it was a successful day for all, including mom who got to pretend she was eating Mexican food in Pacific Beach. Happy Thursday!

My outside voice.

I scream at the very top of my lungs for as long as I can stand it, when I want anything! I'm not the easy baby mom and dad were hoping for, but I'm super fun!

I resort to toes when mom doesn't feed me what I want.

But then I suck them back in when I'm sleeping and they seem to forget I'm so high maintenance.

My king size bed in action.

The sun is shining folks! This is amazing!! No more artificial vitamin D!

Passed out after my long day of eating cookies, apples and drinking milk! Not so bad for a Wednesday.

Mom has officially lost it.

She's really bored when dad is gone. This week he's tanning in Madrid, while we sit here and freeze, per the usual. When dad is gone mom usually does something bizarre or spends excessive amounts of money. This week it was both. She decided to turn my room into miniture forest. It's pretty cool except my nite light makes it look pretty creepy after dark!
Meanwhile, dad is sending mom pictures of this...
American Budwiser. His job is SO rough.
Goodnight all! PS, tonight I feel asleep with no crying AT ALL (which has not been the case this week)! Mom is so excited she doesn't know what to do with herself!!

Round 2

For the past two days I've had another pesky fever! Can you believe it?! I just had one like two weeks ago!

Anyway, I'm feeling better now, and I'm glad because I don't want to see the doctor ever again! The guy has a deep voice and the last time he checked me out I peed all over the table. I know he's just trying to help, but I'd rather mom push on my belly and check inside my mouth. The doctor asked mom if I go to a nursery school, which I don't. Mom failed to mention to the doctor that I ate a mouth full of dirt, in order to avoid being rightfully judged. Mom and dad also had a stomach bug last week, so I bet it was their fault!

I'm much better now, and mom is now neurotically reading about ever childhood illness ever discovered. The crazy train will be here to pick her up at the end of the week.

Me outside of the doctor's office. Also, it's like 70 degrees here! Hello, spring!
Grandpa came to the doctor to visit me and take me on a walk. He's a pretty awesome grandpa!
Dad reading me a story before bed. I didn't listen to him, but rather tried to chew the pages of Green Eggs and Ham.

Work.

These last few days have been a lot of work. Unfortunatly, I'm unable to email my work collegues because I haven't cracked dad's password to the computer. I'm thinking it's something along the lines of:

Ihearttheblues

Harmonicaplayersrule

Ilovehamsandwiches

Hummmm...I guess it's back to the drawing board.
