Freedom!!!
They finally took me out of the compound...but only because they are cheap and wanted to eat kababs for dinner! I saw a lot of cars, people and sparkely imitation jewelry!

Over our heads.
You know you are staying at a hotel that far exceeds your budget when you ask for a straw...
Today, mom, dad and Aunt Sandra went into the city. I have yet to leave the compound of the hotel, but that's ok, because grandma and grandpa push me around in the garden and keep me stocked with cocktails.
The parents had heard about the demonstrations going on in Istanbul from great-grandma Manou in San Diego (the only informed member of the family). Oddly enough, dad just so happened to take us to the place where those exact demonstrations were taking place. Genius. Thankfully, the protests were scheduled for later that evening, but they did see plenty of Turkish police with very scary guns. The cab driver told them about the last time when his cab was hit with tear gas. It would have been fine though, they could have taken refuge in the near by Starbucks or KFC. Unbelievable.
A quick picture of the fam in Taksim Square before moving on to more important landmarks, like the Gap.
After about 20 minutes of shopping, dad demand they eat. They found a great place where they ordered entirely too much food and the waiter had to teach them how to eat it. Apparently it was really good, because they didn't bring any home for me.
All in all, it was a successful day sans injury or tear gas exposure. Mom and dad even bought me some cute clothes.

Perks
So one of the perks of Budapest is getting out of Budapest. I spent most of the day sun bathing and sleeping by the infinity pool with the grandparents, while mom and dad went to stuff their already expanding waist lines with Turkish kababs. Apparently they were pretty amazing, because they were gone for a good couple of hours.

A fancy Christmas!!
So not only did I get a bag full of toys and treats, I also started my vacation in Istanbul! Per my usual, I was rather well behaved on the flight. Two hours doesn't quite compare to the the long trek we took to San Diego a few months back. The guys on Turkish Airlines were really nice and waited for us, since dad decided we should be late to our gate. We live dangerously. Of course, mom was stressed carrying five bags. She's typically a mess, so that's nothing new.
Dad taking me on the obligatory walk to make new friends.
As soon as we got to the hotel, I met Santa. He was nice and gave me candy, but then his big butt got too close and I cried.
We're staying at a pretty fancy hotel! Look at the view from our room! So, basically I'm going to hang out on the cool bed, eat expensive chocolate and pretend I'm rich! I have to be ready for my spa treatment in the morning.

Parenting 101
So my parents have seemingly overlooked the fact that I'm starting to actually develop motor skills. I know it's hard for my dad, since we are about on the same page, but mom has no excuses.
My San Diego grandma sent us a really nice package that had lots of yummy stuff inside. When the parents weren't looking, I decided to have a go at the cookies. I then proceeded to remove ALL the stuffing from inside the package, and spread it all over the newly vaccummed floor. Apparently dad was silently supervising, whilst taking pictures.

Christmas vacation!!
Well, after throwing around a few ideas about where the family should go on vacation, we came to a very acceptable conclusion. No snow! That's all I care about!
I'll give you a few clues...
It's east of Budapest.
Next to the sea! (Amen!)
It's a huge city!
It's next to a few countries that hate the US...thankfully I will have my Hungarian passport soon (sorry mom).
AND they have awesome bazaar shopping!!!
Aunt Sandra and I are going to shop 'till we drop!
Istanbul, here we come!!!

I moonlight as a bunny.
This is what happens when dad is in charge of feeding me. I love carrots, just not in my mouth.

Day one...
Mom and dad went a little crazy today and bought $100 worth of fruits, vegetables, dairy alternatives and beans for their 30-day challenge. Other than they are just interested in a raw based diet to begin with, they are also interested in shrinking mom's tennis ball-sized fibroid in order to give me a little brother.
She'd rather change her diet and go to the gym rather than take pills or go under again. Unless a little person comes out, it ain't worth it!
Modern medicine is a funny thing. Doctors never suggest changing the fuel your body is running on, but instead prescribe pills that have other nasty side effects.
Today it was a fresh orange-carrot juice for breakfast with a spinach and potato omlette, and lentils along with a fresh salad are on the agenda for later today! It's about time my parents get it together!!!
What did I eat? Puréed pears and prunes! Not so great, but fresh!

I like to read.
And eat books. I figured since I've been fed about everything under the sun these last two weeks, that I'd try some other flavors of cardboard. Mom put me in the high chair and is forced feeding me water so I poop. Quite frankly, Prosecco would be better, but I guess I'll have to wait until we go to Italy.

I'm official!
We all went down to the "Office for Official Paperwork," also known as, a much more ridiculous DMV. Mom got her address card and I applied for my Hungarian passport. Dad reminded me not to smile, and I did exactly that. I'm a true patriot. It's also obvious I have Eastern European roots due to my love for tomatoes and pickles, the two staple foods you can find anywhere here.
My new obsession is sticking out my tongue. This is a photo from the DMV when mom asked me what dad looks like when he walks past a window. I guess he's into licking stuff.

My new friend!!!
Emma was born today in Germany, which means I should get to see her fairly soon. I'm kinda tired of just hanging out with my parents all the time and playing with my ridiculously bright colored toys!
Hey, mom, why don't you stop taking pictures and read me a book! Jesus!
I just hit dad, which mom thinks is hilariously funny. Monday, December 9, 2013
Got rice cereal?
I do. All over my face!!!! This is what happens when I'm not tired at 10:30pm and my parents are. They left me to go to the Chirstmas market. They owed me a little quality time.

Yehaw Mikolause! (Aka Santa)
I got chocolate in my John Deer boots and not one oyster! Too bad I can't chew, otherwise I'd be all over that marzipan!

Christmas Oysters
Today we went to the local (read: upscale) cafe and mom and dad splurged on four oysters from Bretange, France! They must be insane because the things cost about 900ft/each, which is like $4. What are we rich?!
I wish great-grandma Manou was here though!
Tonight is when Santa comes, here in Budapest. Apparently because there are no chimneys in Europe (because everyone lives in apartments), we are supposed to leave our boots by the window so Santa can stuff them with chocolate. So help me god if I get oysters!!!
The parents also went crazy and bought a fake Christmas tree. In protest, I immediately tried to pull it down. I don't want a fake tree! The lights cost like $50!!! I don't get this country.

Gobble gobble.
Man, Hungarian grandma's can cook! Let's not talk about mom (who burned the cookies and somehow screwed up the sweet potatoes that had a total of four ingredients, including sugar and marshmallows). Anyway, we had the full spread! I pretty much got to try everything except the turkey (I can't believe they cheated me like that). Anyway, we had fun and I'm starting to like leftovers.
